Adult classes for the Fall include: Dates: Wednesdays beginning Feb 13 for 9 weeks Times: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Facilitator: Rev. Mark Hayes The Spirit of Life workshops offer participants space, time, and community to explore their UU spirituality. Each focuses on a different aspect of the spiritual life, framed by the lyrics of Carolyn McDade’s song, “Spirit of Life.” Like the song, the Spirit of Life workshops are designed to be welcoming to UU’s of many spiritual sensibilities and theological persuasions. Participants are invited to claim an inclusive definition of spirituality and to recognize the spiritual aspects of their own lives.
Dates: Sundays, Feb. 10 and 24, March 9, and April 13 and 27 Times: Noon to 1:30 PM Facilitator: Jean Wiant, CRE, DLRE This new edition of “Owning Your Religious Past” updates a classic UU adult program for a new era. Originally published in 1981, “Owning Your Religious Past” met a need of UU adults that continues now: the need to reckon with our religious upbringings and integrate them into our current religious lives. “Owning Your Religious Past” continues to be used in our congregations because its activities and discussions help UU’s grow in their faith, moving from a space of discomfort and awkwardness to a space of affirmation and wholeness. The program’s exercises invite participants to revisit religious spaces and people from childhood in a way that promotes greater self-understanding and personal peace.
