UUFCC Membership FAQ

What is a Member of the Fellowship?

When you become a Member of the Fellowship:

  • You become part of a wonderful, warm, and welcoming community
  • You will receive the quarterly UUA publication, UU World
  • You will be able to vote at congregational meetings
  • You will be able to chair committees and become a member of the Board of Trustees
  • You will be listed in the UUFCC directory
  • You will be invited to participate in many aspects of Fellowship life
  • You will be invited to participate on a Hospitality Team
  • You will be asked to support the Fellowship with your time and financial gifts
How do I become a Member?

First, learn as much as you can by attending services and religious education programs such as UU 101 .  Read materials available in the UUFCC's social-room library and bookstore, pamphlets available in the foyer, and information available on web sites such as www.UUA.org.  Compare your beliefs with the beliefs of all major religions using www.beliefnet.com .  Talk with members and with the UUFCC's Minister, Mark Hayes .  If you find that the UUFCC would be a good spiritual home, that you want to be a part of the fellowship, and that you want to contribute to this faith community then ask to sign the Membership Book to become a Member of the UUFCC and the UUA.

 What is pledging?

This is best explained as your commitment to the stewardship of our beloved UUFCC community.  Pease read about it here, where you can also find a pledge card.

What is a “Getting to Know UU Coffee”?

After the Sunday Service on the first Sunday of most months, get a cup of coffee or tea in the Social Room and then join us in Room 2 for a brief introduction to Unitarian Universalism and our Fellowship.  You will have your questions answered in an informal gathering with our Minister, Mark Hayes, and/or our Director of Lifespan Religious Education, Jean Wiant.  Check the Calendar for dates and times.

What is “UU 101”?

A Saturday class where you will learn about Unitarian Universalism and this congregation.  People who attend the class find connections and fellowship in one another’s company.  This is usually a group of 12-15.  You will gather with mostly other newcomers, some older members and our Minister, Mark Hayes, and/or our Director of Lifespan Religious Education, Jean Wiant.
