Lifespan Learning Hour

11:30 - 12:30

There is very little programming for the Lifespan Learning Hour during the summer months (June, July, and August). We hope that you enjoyed the offerings this past year, and look forward to attending in the coming year.

    June 5  11:15 AM

Room 2:  "Getting to Know UU" Facilitated by the Membership Committee.

An opportunity for newcomers to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and UUFCC.

    June 12  11:30 AM

Sanctuary, then Rm 6: BAA (Believer,Agnostic,Atheist) Study Group

We will view a NOVA program, Secrets of the Mind, that rehearses some of the material of our May
meeting, adds some fascinating material, and helps with understanding it all by providing more explanation
and great graphics.  The program runs 53 minutes, after which we'll take a short break and then have
30 minutes of questions/discussion (for those who stay with us).  We'll see explanations for:
    1. an amputee is stroked on his cheek and reports feeling the Q-tip on his cheek and also a stroking
sensation across his phantom hand.  2. The rare condition called blindsight enables one to see motion
and its direction, but not be able to consciously identify the object that is moving.  What does it
mean to be consciously aware of something?  3. The patient concludes that the person he sees is an
impostor that looks just like his mother.  An emotional response is a crucial part of our ability to
identify people and things.  4.  When John's epileptic seizures came to an end he was exhausted but
he felt omnipotent and convinced that he was God.  And other fascinating aspects of brain function.
